The stage will light up to introduce Baltimore resident Tracy Turnblad, the happy-go-lucky, plus-sized high school student that has ambitions and a soul that are bigger than her waist measurements.
The show starts - It is 1962 and Tracy has dreams of featuring on the local TV dance program, The Corny Collins Show, but is met with no, it won’t happen. Yet, Tracy proves people wrong and after winning a role in the show with her spunky attitude and swinging hips and becoming a local icon overnight. But she realizes that there are prejudices in her hometown that she cannot abide. What will transpire when Tracy and her pals and family fight against the wrongs in their hometown?
