Be amazed as ancient China's legacies unfold in a momentous commemoration overflowing with spirituality, passion, and color. Shen Yun — the world’s favorite music and dance troupe — has announced this year’s calendar of programs connecting many of North America’s most prestigious theaters, including the HEB Performance Hall At Tobin Center for the Performing Arts on Friday 16th February 2024!

“It’s a performance that is for anyone, from young to old, and it appeals to different emotions, as well as to the soul... It’s humorous, but there are also serious topics that make you think. And I think every audience member can find something that speaks to them.”

Long before the period of Communism, FIVE MILLENNIA of culture, legends, and arts flourished in each curve of mainland China, and year in and year out, the New York-based Shen Yun breathes life into these enduring treasures for everyone to cherish! This year will be the same.

Heavenly gods marching across the earth. Infinite steppes streaked by nomadic hordes of Mongols. And battlefield heroics of dauntless soldiers. Shen Yun’s seasonal shows center around the countless myths and epics that spanned China’s empires, creatively illustrating their calamities and fortunes with principles from Taoist and Buddhist creeds to round up each story.

The approaching presentation will exhibit twenty story sections of unbelievable performances in about 2 hours. Professionally trained dancers dressed in charmingly colorful costumes will flutter through the floor, narrating the show’s tales through 17 or 18 complex folk dance routines. Additionally, 2 or 3 instrumental and vocal solos will intersperse these phases with exhilarating symphonies — both traditional and original.

A full-piece band will perform rousing music throughout the event, inventively combining Chinese and Western instruments. In terms of stagecraft, Shen Yun makes use of a high-tech digital background to display immersive scenarios, pulling guests into the expanse of ancient Chinese civilizations in a sensational fashion.

For the tour’s pit stop in Texas's city of San Antonio, the premier HEB Performance Hall At Tobin Center for the Performing Arts will be our host. Its gorgeous stage, graced by several of the past century's greatest performers, will lay the base for the amazing show, further enhancing it with stellar sight lines, pristine lighting, and pitch-perfect acoustics.
